A savvy finance guru Sydney revealed how she managed to reduce her hotel room costs by 20 percent when she was traveling.
Queenie Tan, 26, and her fiancé Pablo, 30, have embarked on a worldwide vacation starting in Singapore and are currently in Ibiza.
The couple stayed at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore and saved $158.55 simply by booking through the ShopBack website.
Queenie shared the simple hack in an Instagram video, saying there’s no harm in letting the hotel staff know if you’re also celebrating a special occasion, as they’ve received a complimentary room upgrade with chocolates since their recent engagement.

Queenie and Pablo began their world tour in Singapore and will travel to London, Paris, New York, Vancouver and Las Vegas before returning to Sydney.
It only cost the couple $1,000 each for all flights, as they could use Qantas points they’d earned by using a credit card for everyday purchases.
If they had paid for the flights, Queenie said it would have cost more than $10,000.

In another video, Queenie said she swears by the phone app Klook to shop for the best deals when she wants to shop for tourist experiences and activities.
“I’m on a world tour so I’m saving money for activities,” she said.
“I use an app called Klook – you can use this app to buy cheaper tours, tickets and sim cards!”
Queenie also mentioned that you can have the option to get cashback on certain offers just by using the app.

Last month, a TikToker listed the top ways to save money while traveling — including packing snacks, a water bottle, and booking flights in advance.
Téa Angelos, from Brisbane, Australia, shared the handy tips to thousands on TikTok in a series of two videos.
The 25-year-old founder of the educational company Smart women society recommends booking flights at least six weeks in advance, using cashback services and signing up for travel sale alerts to get the best deals.
When booking flights, it is best to sign up with airline email lists to take advantage of deals and special offers.
Wednesday is typically the cheapest day of the week to fly and it’s best to use services like Webjet to compare fares when booking.
Instead of buying overpriced groceries at the airport, Téa makes sure she always packs snacks, food and a filled water bottle in her carry-on.
She also avoids spending money on checked baggage to save both time and money at the airport.
