Chelsea are reportedly set to rekindle their interest in Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde after he encountered a brick wall in his attempts to sign Nathan Ake from Manchester City.
The Blues pursued Kounde all last summer and talks were still ongoing at deadline date but a deal could not be agreed.
Sevilla proved a tough negotiator a year ago while the Blues were unwilling to honor the 23-year-old’s £68.4million release clause.

Chelsea have been in talks over a £50million transfer for Ake in recent weeks and were hoping to reach an agreement.
The report claims that the 27-year-old is a popular member of Pep Guardiola’s squad and is happy to remain at the Etihad Stadium.
It is said that the Premier League champions would only have sold Ake if his rating had been met because he offers strength at depth at several positions.
The Netherlands international started his career at Chelsea after joining the Blues academy when he was 15
The Netherlands international joined City from Bournemouth two years ago and has helped the club win back-to-back league titles.
He began his career at Chelsea after joining the Blues academy aged 15 but only made 17 appearances for the first-team before leaving in 2017.
PSG’s Presnel Kimpembe is also a target for Tuchel as he looks to fill in the gaps in his team’s defence.
