The Rugby Australia chief executive has condemned the “offensive” comments and behavior by fans towards England manager Eddie Jones.
Andy Marinos says viewer comments are “unacceptable” and “not representative of rugby values”.
“We have a zero tolerance policy for inappropriate behavior,” he said.
“We are working with Venues NSW on appropriate sanctions for these individuals.
“Rugby prides itself on the values of respect and integrity – as players from both teams saw after the final whistle of a hard-fought series at the SCG on Saturday night.
“We expect spectators to uphold these values of respect and integrity when attending rugby matches – and, we hope, in society at large.”
Jones, who coached his national team from 2001 to 2005, took over the England job in 2015.
The layout at the SCG meant he had to pass home fans on his way to and from the dressing room after Saturday’s series win, and footage posted to social media showed the 62-year-old being baited on two incidents.
One clip shows a man pointing the finger at Jones and saying “You’re a traitor” twice. Jones approached the man and asked him to “come up here and say it” three times while he was led away by a member of security personnel.
In another incident, which occurred while walking through the SCG members’ area, Jones was labeled a traitor and his response contained an expletive.
In another incident, also during Saturday’s game, another fan was filmed climbing onto the roof of the stadium stand and urinating.
Rugby Australia said the man had been banned for life and called his behavior “regrettable” and “disgraceful”.
“This individual has been placed under a lifetime ban from Rugby Australia events – and we will continue to support the authorities in dealing with the matter,” Marinos added.
