Chelsea will not sign Cristiano Ronaldoafter talks between manager Thomas Tuchel and co-owner Todd Boehly.
The American, who is part of a group that took over the club in May, is understood to have raised the prospect of a move Manchester United‘s wanton star to Stamford Bridge after meeting the player’s agent Jorge Mendes in Portugal.
However, after talks, it was decided not to pursue the 37-year-old any further. It is believed that Tuchel wants to focus on the team rather than the individual and believes he has signed Raheem Sterling Manchester City for £47.5million on Wednesday fits the bill better.

Indeed, there was also a view that the arrival of Ronaldo Sterling, whom Chelsea see as the signing and dressing room leader, may have stolen some of the limelight.
The Portuguese has not joined United on their pre-season tour. He is looking to leave the club just a year after rejoining after they missed out on Champions League football after an arduous, unconvincing campaign.
It is understood that French giants Paris Saint-Germain have also turned down the chance to move for the striker who appears to have limited options. A club in Saudi Arabia is reportedly offering to pay him £105million a year.
Ronaldo’s arrival would no doubt have given Chelsea a huge, immediate commercial boost, but it’s believed the decision was made for footballing reasons.
Tuchel, who was absent from Barcelona against Leeds United playmaker Raphinha, will soon add defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who was expected to complete a £34m move from Napoli on Thursday.

Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta is also likely to join Barcelona but only after reinforcements have been signed for the defensive end, with a likely addition of right-back.
New contracts are also on the horizon for the English couple Mason Mount and Reece James and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Tom Glick, the former Manchester City official, will soon be announced as the new chief executive as Boehly and the Americans continue to make their mark at Stamford Bridge.
Discussions are ongoing with a number of candidates for the director of football role.
