Billy Gilmour will be looking for a better experience should he go Chelsea borrowed again.
The young Scottish midfielder has endured a miserable period Norwich City Last year he was booed by the club’s supporters as they staggered towards relegation.
Gilmour, who left Chelsea’s first team in Charlotte to join the Salt Lake Under-23s, revealed things were getting so awkward at Carrow Road that his family stopped going to games.

“It was tough,” said the 21-year-old. “It was also hard for my family. If you got family in the stands and they yell it’s never pretty, but I’d just put my head down. Of course that’s not nice.
“They stopped coming to the games so it wasn’t nice. They didn’t come down to play at the weekend, they just stayed indoors.”
The experience came as a shock to many. Gilmour is highly rated and was dubbed ‘Scotland’s N’Golo Kante’ by Graeme Souness while he played in the Tartan Army’s 0-0 draw with England at Euros last summer.
“It’s been a difficult season,” he admitted. “I went there with the idea of trying to do my best and some games worked and some games didn’t.
He bears no grudges towards those who barracked him during a miserable campaign.

“It’s the opinion of the fans,” he said. “They come to watch games and pay for their ticket and they scream but that happened and it wasn’t nice to hear. I gave everything and tried to work hard in every game.”
Gilmour, who has 15 caps, said it feels good to be back at his home club despite missing out on the 2-1 win over Club America and having left the squad, another move amid embarrassment of wealth as a manager, Thomas Tuchel is likely to be available in his position.
However, he is ready to fight should he stay at Stamford Bridge.
“There are top midfielders here,” he said. “Chelsea are a top club with top players. You see them all so it’s a good competition and something I’m looking forward to.
