Wayne Rooney has reportedly included a special “Coleen release clause” in his new $1 million contract direct current United.
The 36-year-old England legend, who played for the club in 2018 and 2019 and scored 25 goals in 52 games, was unveiled as head coach earlier in the week.
The footballer, who flew to America to sign the contract, has convinced bosses to let him return home if a First League Job arises – to be back with his family.

A source tells The mirror: “Wayne planned summer with family after leaving Derby County. He hadn’t expected to be offered a job so quickly.
“His contract lets him speak to Premier League clubs if there’s a job. I think he’ll only come back if it’s a big club but being at home with Coleen and the lads would be a big factor for him.

Rooney traveled alone, without wife Coleen, who was struggling to settle down as a player in Washington.

After announcing his return to Washington, Wayne said, “When my agent called me and said DC had come in, I spoke to my wife first and she said this was an opportunity to come back as a coach and I was ready for it.
“If she had said, ‘I don’t want you to go there,’ it would have been different. I’m in a different place as a person than I was in Washington four years ago, and I’m ready.
“Of course I make all important decisions with my wife. My family will stay in England for the time being and come to visit me. From a family point of view, this is not a problem.”
