“I sweat when I see him add those layers!” People poke fun at the M&S video on how to cool your bed for heatwave nights — because it involves using a BLANKET, duvet, and extra pillows!
- An M&S video describing how to make a bed in the heatwave is being mocked online
- The video urges people to stay cool with a sheet, duvet, throw and extra pillows
- One said the tips offered by the high street giant are more in keeping with winter
A video posted on MRS‘ The Instagram account, which is advising people how to make their beds cooler ahead of this week’s record-breaking heatwave in the UK, has been mocked online – as it uses a blanket, duvet and extra pillows.
the video on Instagram advises people to use 100% linen bedding as it “helps regulate body temperature”. It also tells people to use a “comfortable, cool fitted sheet” and then “pile up” with a flat sheet.
So far so good, but then it encourages people to “add a duvet” when temperatures drop in the middle of the night, and “top off” with a choice of pillows and throws.
Temperatures in the UK are expected to rise to as high as 30 degrees overnight on Monday and Tuesday.
Fail: The much-mocked M&S video posted two days ago shows a man with an American accent teaching people how to make a bed for the upcoming mini-heatwave
The man advises viewers to choose linen bedding, which helps regulate body temperature – but then the video takes a more unusual turn
Most people take off their duvets to sleep, but M&S advises putting one on… and a blanket over it
Many poked fun at the video, unfazed by M&S trying to sell bedding after a heatwave
Others said they break out in a sweat just thinking about so many layers. Temperatures are expected to hit 40 degrees in some parts of England on Monday night
Not cool enough yet? Then why not add a throw and some pillows to see if they will cool you down?
But the video that was posted with the tagline “Struggling to sleep through the balmy summer nights?” was laughed at online.
One user, @alixxpoo, wrote: “Cool bedding for my bum!! You couldn’t put on more bedding if it were winter.”
Another @lannerrach wrote: “I’m just sweating watching him add all those layers of bedding!”
@lmjakob poked fun, replying, “I really thought he was going to throw that comforter on the floor,” while lisacrow92 commented, “Thanks, but I’m just going to star fish on the comforter.”
Another, @emmalouiserobins, wrote: “Why would you wear so many layers in a freaking heatwave?!”
While another commented: “That’s too much for a normal night let alone a heatwave of the expected 39 degrees.”
The finished bed with throw and pillow – what could be cooler?
Some thought the video would be a parody – in fact, it was serious
For those women who are going through menopause and have hot flashes, the thought of all that bedding was torture
This woman commented that the bedding was way too much for these temperatures
Another thought the serious video was meant to be a comedy skit
Some also criticized how the man in the video made the bed.
A user named this_veteran_can wrote, “Let me know if you need someone who can do Hospital Corners because if you don’t use a fitted sheet, everything else just looks scruffy when tucked in.”
Another eva_elite_life wrote: “My nurses brain looks at the creases in the corners.”
But not everyone made fun of the video, which received 5,160 likes.
One @jojowright71 said: “Seeing this makes me happy.”
While others were also impressed by the man’s bed-making skills.
@mrstaffam wrote: “Please can he teach my husband how to make the bed too?!”
While @laura_renovating_no66 @_hanr0se wrote: ‘where do you find a man who can make the bed like that?’
