Meghan supported Harry as he delivered a speech outlining the Supreme Court’s Roe v. to overthrow Wade as a “global attack on democracy and freedom”.
Cameras trained on the royal couple, who were seated in the front row, captured the moment Meghan helped the stranger and a clip of the interaction was shared on social media.
Royal fans praised the Duchess for her thoughtful gesture, writing, “The kindness everyone who knows Meghan is always talking about.”
Another wrote: “This is our girl who never misses a beat. She is always aware of her surroundings and will help when needed.’
A third added: “It’s all very natural for them… to care and look out for each other, such an amazing couple.”
Prince Harry has been invited to speak at a United Nations event to mark Nelson Mandela Day.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were chatting quietly when a woman sitting in the row behind (in a brown blazer) started coughing
Noticing the woman was struggling to clear her throat (pictured), Meghan turned around and asked if she’d like some water
The Duchess of Sussex reached into her own pocket and pulled out a water bottle for the woman
The woman in the brown blazer gratefully accepted Meghan’s water and took a big gulp to collect herself
Moments later, she handed the water bottle back to a smiling Meghan, who had one hand on Prince Harry’s arm
The Duchess of Sussex put her water bottle back in her bag and continued listening to the rest of the speakers
In a wide-ranging speech, the Duke of Sussex said: “This has been a painful year in a painful decade. We are living through a pandemic that continues to devastate communities in all parts of the world.
“Climate change is wreaking havoc on our planet, with the most vulnerable suffering the most. The few armed lies and disinformation at the expense of the many.
“And from the horrific war in Ukraine to the roll-back of constitutional law in the US, we are witnessing a global assault on democracy and freedom, the cause of Mandela’s life.”
Harry has also blasted the “rollback of constitutional rights” and criticized the US Supreme Court for its decision to overturn federal abortion protections.
