Whether it’s an embarrassing photo or a cheeky status update, there are often times when you’d prefer that certain people couldn’t see what you’re up to online.
Now, Facebook is testing the ability for users to create multiple profiles, each of which can be used for different purposes.
For example, one profile can be used for interacting with close friends, while another is tailored for co-workers.
“To help people customize their experience based on interests and relationships, we’re testing a way for people to associate more than one profile with a single Facebook account,” a Meta Company spokesman explained.

The test stipulates that certain Facebook users can create four additional profiles linked to their Facebook account.
Users still have a master account but can switch between their different profiles with “just two taps”.
The additional profiles do not need to have the user’s real identity for their display name.
“People can choose whatever profile name and username they want for their additional profiles,” Facebook explained.
However, the platform added that the name and username must follow their guidelines and community standards and cannot contain numbers or special characters.
“People’s main profiles still have to use the name they use in everyday life,” it said.
While you might be concerned that people would use their additional accounts to troll other users, Facebook says the additional profiles remain governed by its community standards.
“With security and accountability in mind, additional profiles remain subject to Facebook’s Community Standards, and Facebook will take action against individuals who violate these guidelines,” it added.

The test – which will not include users in the UK – is likely an attempt by Facebook to latch on to its users.
in the FebruaryNews broke that Facebook lost daily users in the last quarter of 2021 for the first time in its 18-year history, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg believes was caused by the TikTok boom.
The social media giant’s devastating earnings report sent Facebook shares down more than 20 percent, erasing more than $200 billion from the company’s market cap and $29 billion from Zuckerberg’s net worth.
Facebook reported a nearly 500,000 drop in daily logins over the last three months of 2021.
“People have a lot of choices about how they want to spend their time, and apps like TikTok are growing very quickly,” Zuckerberg said in an earnings call on Wednesday, according to The Washington Post.
