The 47-year-old comedian took to Instagram on Saturday to share some messages from a fan who said he spoke to police after recognizing the former Stand Up for the Week host.
One message read: “Hey Paul, was that you on New Oxford Street? Looks like some thugs tried to attack you.”

They added: “I sent the police who were after a couple of cars but I think they drove away by then.
Paul added in the caption: “I was attacked in my car in London yesterday. I’m fine and will update you as soon as possible.’

Incident: A message read: ‘Hey Paul, was that you on New Oxford Street? Looked like some thugs tried to attack you.
Comedian Judi Love sent her well wishes, writing in the comments section, “Omg hope you’re okay hun xxx.”
Another shared: “Oh no Paul. I hope you are doing well given the circumstances and sending you virtual hugs.x’
Someone else posted, “This is awful 🙁 Hope you’re ok!”, while another fan wrote, “Damn bro, so sorry to hear about this, hope you’re ok.”







Reaction: Fans quickly took to the comments section of Paul’s post to send their well wishes

And another shocked follower posted: “What???!!! I really hope you are well…’
Paul previously said he was attacked when he spoke about the prejudice his father faced in the 1980s.
The prankster, who is of Indian Punjabi Sikh descent, opened up about his father’s struggles to Gaby Roslin on her podcast: “He got quite a few stitches in the face. There was a knife attack, the people were never caught. But he dealt with it, he never held grudges.’
Referring to similar experiences of violence he himself had experienced, he added: “I’ve been attacked, a lot has happened to me, but you can’t let that affect you, you know it’s part of human nature, some of it’s darker sides. ‘
