
At least two people were killed and three injured after a gunman opened fire on one Indiana shopping mallsay the officials.
The violence unfolded at Greenwood Park Mall south of Indianapolis according to WTHR-TV on Sunday around 6 p.m.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police tweeted that their officers were assisting Greenwood Police in the incident and that there were “multiple casualties” but “no known ongoing threat.”
According to the news broadcaster, the shooter is also dead.
People who were in the mall at the time of the shooting said they heard about 20 gunshots coming from the food court.
Law enforcement units search the mall to ensure there are no other wounded or those still sheltering. Investigators have not yet commented on a motive behind the shooting.
“If anyone witnessed the shooting at Greenwood Park Mall please go to the Greenwood Police Training Center,” the Greenwood Police Department posted on Facebook.
A store employee told WRTV that she was about to close the store when she heard the shooting.
“I was really, really scared. I was going to close the gate but people kept running towards me and I kept letting people in and waiting but it was really scary because I have three kids at home and I just wanted to go home,” she told the broadcaster.
