Progressive Reps. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Ilhan Omar and other Democratic members of Congress were arrested outside of the supreme court on Tuesday in protest at the overthrow of Roe v. Calf.
Ocasio-Cortez was seen being escorted by police with her hands clasped behind her back as if she were handcuffed, but she wasn’t. At one point, she unclasped her hands and raised her fists at the other protesters.
Other members arrested by officers include Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., Nydia Velazquez, DN.Y., Jackie Speier, D-Calif., Sarah Jacobs, D-Calif . , Katherine Clark, D-Mass., Andy Levin, D-Mich., Carolyn Maloney, DN.Y., Madeleine Dean, D-Pa., Jan Schakowksy, D-Ill., and Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-Calif.
Since the fall of Roe in the Dobbs case against the Jackson Women’s Health Organization in June, pro-choice protesters have gathered outside the Supreme Court nearly every day.
About two dozen Congressmen protested outside the High Court when police told them through megaphones that they were taking part in “illegal demonstrations”. “Don’t do it or you will be arrested,” police warned.

Since Roe’s ouster, protesters have gathered outside the Supreme Court almost daily
“I have just been arrested in the Supreme Court for protesting the appalling overthrow of Roe v Wade. This is the time to stand up, speak out and not be shy when it comes to justice and equality,” Maloney wrote on Twitter after the arrest.
