
BREAKING NEWS: A massive explosion rocks the Hoover Dam showing black smoke and fire inside the turbine house
An explosion of unknown cause has rocked the Hoover Dam complex.
Video from Tuesday’s dam showed fire and smoke billowing from the turbine house Arizona side of Colorado River, at the foot of the 726-foot dam.
Boulder City Fire Department units respond to the fire.
“The Boulder City Fire Department is en route to an emergency call at Hoover Dam. No further information is available at this time,” officials said in a statement.
Nashville-based writer Kristy Hairston was touring the dam when she captured video of smoke and fire from the top of the iconic dam.

‘Something just exploded!’ someone can be heard repeatedly in the video while a tour guide urges the group to evacuate the area.
Hairston posted video of the incident on Twitter at 10.10am local time.
The emergency call radio showed that the fire was completely extinguished by 10:40 a.m.
